What’s in the ‘fat envelope’? (What Yale sent me)
Put this one down under ‘practical and boring.’ Still, I thought someone or someones out there might be curious as to what exactly Yale sent me and the 700 other early admits. So here is what came in that ‘fat envelope’ packet on Monday, accompanying the official letter of admission. Clockwise from top:
- YALE banner.
- ‘Reply’ card for Yale matriculation–already mailed back.
- Explanation of Financial Aid statement, preliminary financial aid packet
- Acceptance letter
- Another packet about ‘Financing Your Yale Education’
- Small card reminding me to go to the admitted student website, admits.yale.edu
- A letter explaining what is necessary to accept the offer, take a gap year, etc.
- All nestled inside a ‘folder’ made up of a poster; the reverse has the quite well known ‘community of scholars’ Pierson quote.
Sorry for the shoddy photo quality, it was taken with my phone and I don’t have anything on this laptop to nicely clean it up. (GIMP won’t even run nicely.)

UPenn only sent me an acceptance letter and a card with which to reply along with $200 :/
I got a letter from Winthrop, that’s about it. Maybe some of those ‘Things You Should Know’ flyers, I don’t remember if those were at oriontation or not.
Mit sent its early admits a large, long tube filled with sparkling gold and silver confetti stars, among other things.
Hello…I applied early admission to Yale and I was wondering when the letter actually arrived. Yale said that acceptance would come on December 15th, but I was wondering if they ever arrive earlier than that date?
