I never did any of those things (stopped latin after the 9th grade, for example) and neither did most people I've met here. Since you're just a sophomore, right now, just focus on committing yourself to your HS experience--do the things you are passionate about, devote yourself to them, pursue them vigorously and take on responsibility and leadership roles. (If you don't mind lending some free advice, of course.) I'm a sophomore in hs and I love love love Yale. I feel like I barely have any chance of getting in since I'm not fluent in Latin, I don't play the harmonica professionally, and I've never organized a marathon. (A bit dramatic, but you get my drift.) I do have some things that stand out on my app but I don't feel like I could possibly get in compared to the thousands of people all over the world that want to go there. I applied to 2 schools, Winthrop and Jacksonville State. The second was a safety school (which I realyl didn't need but there was no essay and the application was free) and I only applied to Winthrop so my grandma would leave me alone about it (she went there back in the day).
