How can we untangle good intentions from invasive tendencies when it comes to college admissions? كيف يمكننا حل النوايا الحسنه من النزعات الغازية عندما يتعلق الأمر كلية الاعترافات؟ This is a question that can be asked on many fronts, but has added relevance this year with the addition of a question on the common application about disciplinary and criminal records. هذا هو السؤال الذي يمكن ان يطلب على العديد من الجبهات ، ولكن قد اضاف اهمية هذا العام مع اضافة سؤال حول تطبيق مشترك عن السجلات الجناءيه والتاديبيه.

The Boston Globe بوسطن غلوب ran a piece two weeks ago about this tricky issue. يدير قطعه قبل اسبوعين حول هذه المساله العويصه.

I’m not sure what it means that colleges “want openness.” Is this meant to imply that it’s some kind of trust game, and suggest that in addition to hopes and dreams we students load up our college applications with dirty secrets so that the admissions offices would take this to be an investment in our trust with the school, like some weird Skull and Bones initiation rite? لست متأكدا ما يعنيه ان الكليات "نريد الانفتاح." هل هذا يعني ضمنا أنها نوع من الثقة اللعبة ، واقترح اضافة الى ان الآمال والأحلام ونحن لدينا طلاب كلية بتحميل حتى مع التطبيقات القذره الاسرار حتى ان الاعترافات المكاتب سيأخذ هذا ليكون استثمارا في ثقتنا مع المدرسة ، مثل بعض غربة الجمجمة وعظام بدء شعيرة؟ Still, UMass at least is open to different methodologies from high schools. لا تزال ، على الاقل umass مفتوح لمنهجيات مختلفة من المدارس الثانويه.

Students can even enhance their application if they can show in writing how they grew after getting into trouble, said Peter Jennings, Concord’s director of college counseling. ويمكن للطلاب حتى تعزز تطبيقها اذا كان بامكانهم عرض في كتابه كيف نمت بعدما وصلنا الى مأزق ، وقال بيتر جننغز ، والوفاق مدير كلية الاستشاره. “If anything, it gives the colleges a sense of who the kids are, and how they react to a situation,” Jennings said. I personally never got into any kind of trouble that went on any records or could have been problematic if anyone had told colleges about it. انا شخصيا حصلت ابدا الى اي نوع من المتاعب التي ذهبت على أي سجلات أو ما اذا كان يمكن للمشاكل ولو ان احدا قال الكليات حول هذا الموضوع. Some of you might know that I even had a blog while I was applying to college ; ) ! البعض منكم قد اعطى حتى نعرف ان كان بلوق بينما كنت تطبيق لكلية ؛)! But I do know people, some of them good friends, who ran into serious issues because of minor transgressions. لكنني أعرف الناس ، وبعضهم أصدقاء حسن ، الذي اصطدم قضايا خطيرة بسبب تجاوزات طفيفة. I know a lot of this could be colleges strongly reacting to want to know about things which might lead to behavior like that at Virginia Tech this past year and just are looking to cover their bases… but that should not be allowed to come at the expense of a little trust from their side of the equation, either, and a little allowance for experimentation and youthful behavior. وانا أعرف الكثير من هذه الكليات يمكن الرد بقوة الى تريد معرفة الامور التي قد تؤدي الى مثل هذا السلوك في فيرجينيا التقنيه فى هذا العام المنصرم للتو ، ويتطلعون الى تغطية قواعدهم… ولكن ذلك لا ينبغي ان يسمح ليأتي على حساب قليلا من الثقة من جانبهم من المعادله ، واما ، وقليلا بدل للتجريب وسلوك الشباب. Whether someone broke curfew to go play hide and seek in the woods or was arrested by police for trying to conduct a creative senior prank, I worry that the noose-like purview of college admissions may be closing too tight around adolescence, encroaching with renewed vigor. خرق حظر التجول ما اذا كان شخص ما للذهاب والتماس تلعب الاختباء في الغابات او اعتقل من قبل الشرطة لانه حاول اجراء الابداعيه كبار المزحه ، وانا قلق ان الانشوطه - شأنها شأن اختصاص كلية الاعترافات قد يكون اغلاق محكم للغاية حول المراهقه ، وزحف مع تجدد الحماسه .
