Today was the first day of classes at Yale, and I decided it was time to finally start getting back into the blogging spirit. اليوم هو اول ايام الدراسه في جامعة ييل ، وانني قررت ان الوقت قد حان للبدء أخيرا بدأت العودة الى المدونات الروح. In March the Yale Daily News ran a nice little piece about the growing admissions blogging trend nationwide. وفي اذار / مارس ييل ديلى نيوز يتعارض مع قطعة صغيرة لطيفة ازاء تنامي الاعترافات المدونات الاتجاه الوطني. The key piece in it for me was the news that Yale had no plans to start a blog or similar transparency-promoting site anytime soon. القطعه الرئيسية في انها بالنسبة لي هو ان الاخبار ييل ليست لديها خطط لبدء بلوق او ما شابه ذلك - تعزيز الشفافيه الموقع في اي وقت قريب. “Awesome,” I said to myself. "مرعبه ،" قلت لنفسي. “This questionnaire has been helpfully designed to take only a few minutes- how thoughtful of the Yale Admissions Office!” How wrong I was. "هذا الاستبيان تم مفيدة تهدف الى اتخاذ بضع دقائق فقط - كيف مدروس من مكتب القبول في جامعة ييل!" كيف كنت على خطأ. I opened the questionnaire-packet to find myself confronted by about 100 questions. انا فتحت الاستبيان - علبة لاجد نفسي في مواجهة حوالي 100 الاسءله. Allowing a mere 10 seconds per question, that survey would take nearly 17 minutes to complete. السماح لمجرد 10 ثانية لكل سؤال ، ان المسح سيستغرق حوالى 17 دقيقة لاكمالها. “A few” indeed. "قليلة" فى الواقع. Was the survey gratuitously long? وكان المسح لا مسوغ طويلة؟ Not particularly–I still filled it out. - انا لا سيما انها لا تزال تملأ بها. U.S. News & World Report ran a story two weeks ago about the “drastically higher” rejection rates women face at many colleges compared to men. امريكي الاخبار والتقرير العالمي يدير القصة قبل اسبوعين عن "بشدة العالي" رفض معدلات تواجه المراه في العديد من الكليات مقارنة بالرجال. This well known fact comes as no shock to those who know the numbers– more females graduate from high school and more of them seek college degrees than do their male counterparts. هذه حقيقة معروفة وهي كما يأتي اي صدمة لأولئك الذين يعرفون الأرقام - أكثر من الاناث التخرج من المدرسة الثانويه واكثر منهم تسعى كلية درجات مما تفعل نظرائهن من الرجال. Their percentage in colleges and universities continues to grow. نسبتهم في الكليات والجامعات ما زال ينمو. Alex Kingsbury describes the stats, informing us that “From rough parity in 1980, women made up 57 percent of the 16.6 million American collegegoers in 2006. اليكس كينجسبري يصف احصائيات ، وعلينا ان اعلام "من التكافؤ الخام في عام 1980 ، شكلت النساء نسبة 57 فى المائة من 16،6 مليون دولار أمريكى collegegoers في 2006. First I got the NetID, then I went into Webmail (interestingly called Horde, I discovered–apt given the number of new Yalies about the log in) and, having set a password, I sent first a test email, then a blanket ‘hello world look at me’ to friends and family from the new @yale.edu address. اولا انا حصلت netid ، ثم ذهبت الى البريد الالكتروني على الويب (المثير للطالب الحشد ، واكتشفت الرابطه - ونظرا لعدد جديد yalies عن دخول) ، وبعد أن حددت كلمة السر ، وانا ارسلت اول اختبار البريد الالكتروني ، ثم تفكر 'مرحبا العالم ينظر لي 'الى الاهل والاصدقاء من new@yale.edu معالجة.
